Anthony Nuttall - Director
Anthony has been a partner/director for over 20 years and has spent a considerable proportion of that time specialising in the accounts, financial management and taxation of the medical profession. In recent years he has lectured to a number of audiences in relation to the medical profession including GP forum. Stephen Collier - Tax Director
Stephen qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1977 and became a partner in Horsfield & Smith in 1991. He is head of our specialist taxation department and has extensive experience of tax planning for Owner Managed Businesses, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax and Trust taxation. Peter Nicol - Director
Peter trained as a Chartered Accountant with Coopers & Lybrand, qualifying in 1985 and becoming a partner in Horsfield & Smith in 1991. He has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants National Technical Advisory Committee since 1988. Peter's specialises in Audit, Solicitors practices, business valuations and business profitability improvement. Jonathan Staples - Director
Jonathan is married to Sarah with a young son James. He qualified as a chartered accountant in 1991 with a firm in Manchester. Jonathan joined Horsfield & Smith in 1994 and became an partner in 2003, he is also our HR director. As well as providing support to a number of our large audit clients Jonathan has built up considerable experience within the Charitable sector and has been instrumental in developing specialist audit services and advice to many charities both locally and further afield - in August 2007 Jonathan was one of only 57 professionals in the country to have been awarded the prestigious Diploma in Charity Accounting. Martin Hardman - Consultant
Martin, who was born in Bury and educated at Bury Grammar School, qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1970 and became a partner in the firm in 1979. He has gained a wealth of experience in advising and supporting clients in growing their businesses and in preserving their personal wealth by strategic tax planning. Originally a cross-country runner and squash player, Martin now relaxes at the weekends on the North Wales coast where he spends his time boating, fishing, and walking his dog.Email Martin: martinh@horsfield-smith.co.uk
Glynn Warburton - Small Business Manager
Glynn is married with one daughter. He has been with Horsfield & Smith since 1969 and has been the small business manager for many years. Glynn deals with all types of small businesses, including sole traders and partnerships. Wendy Greensitt-Black - SME and Business Development Manager
Wendy has been a manager for the firm for many years, specialising in the affairs of owner managed businesses. She is also responsible for dealing with the business development of the firm. Katie Hough - Tax Manager
Katie joined Horsfield & Smith in 1990, initially on a part time basis but progressing to full time and taking over the Tax Manager role in 1996. The tax department deals with all aspects of taxation and Katie enjoys the variety this entails. A typical day can include anything from Corporation/Income tax compliance to tax planning issues providing our clients with all round tax advice at one port of call. There is never a dull moment. Katie is married with 2 children. Dorothy Brennan - Office Manager
Dorothy joined Horsfield &Smith in 1991 and is responsible for all our "back office" systems, support staff and debt collection for both ourselves and clients. Dorothy is married with one son and two grandchildren.Email Dorothy: dorothyb@horsfield-smith.co.uk
Judi Chadwick - Audit Manager
Judi qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1995, having trained with Horsfield & Smith. As one of our audit managers she deals with a number of company audits as well as specialising in the audit of regulated clients. These include charities, pension schemes, housing associations and FSA regulated clients. She is particularly interested in reviewing and developing systems. She advises clients on their systems and has played a major part in the training of our staff on our accounts preparation software. Graham Carroll - OMB Accounts Manager
Graham has been with the firm a number of years and specializes mainly in accounts preparation and advice for limited companies. He also advises on improvements to existing bookkeeping systems, including the computerization of manual records and also preparation of management information including interim accounts. Graham has considerable experience on Sage and other bookkeeping software such as QuickBooks. Graham lives in Bury and is an avid Manchester City supporter and season ticket holder. Nigel Roberts - Audit &Business Advisory Manager
Nigel is a Chartered Certified Accountant originally joining Horsfield & Smith in 1989. He left the firm in 1999 to join a large national accountancy practice gaining valuable experience of large companies and specialist assignments, returning to Horsfield & Smith in 2005. Nigel deals with many of the firm's larger audit and solicitor clients. He advises many entrepreneurial high growth businesses as well as more established businesses in the SME sector.
